Clemson University
Class of 2026
Bachelor of Science : Spanish and International Health Studies
Bachelor of Science : Health Science, Preprofessional Health Studies

Hello! My name is Bayle Carey, and I am a senior at Clemson University from Owings Mills, Maryland. I am pursuing a dual degree majoring in both Spanish and International Health and Health Science with a concentration in professional health studies. As a pre-med student, I aspire to pursue a career in medicine, specifically within the field of anesthesiology.
My academic and professional journey has been shaped by meaningful experiences that highlight both my skills and my passions. While studying abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, I completed a 135-hour internship, in their pediatric emergency department, where I assisted pediatricians and medical staff with daily patient care, including developmental assessments and routine check-ups. Through this opportunity, I strengthened my cross-cultural communication skills by working closely with Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers, gaining valuable insight into patient-centered care in a diverse setting. In addition to my international experiences, I have developed leadership skills as Vice President of the Welcome Week Executive Board, where I organized and led programming to support new students’ transitions. My dedication to service also extends into my volunteer work at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Greenville, where I strive to provide support to both staff and families navigating challenging circumstances.
As a Black woman, I bring a unique perspective to medicine by understanding the challenges of representation and communication in healthcare. I am committed to being a physician who not only provides excellent care but also bridges cultural and language barriers to ensure every patient feels seen and understood. My core values of empathy, resilience, service, warmth, and intentionality guide me in all areas of my life and align with my goal of providing compassionate and inclusive care.
After graduation, I plan to attend medical school and continue developing the skills that will prepare me to excel as a physician. By combining my background in Spanish with my passion and dedication to community service, I hope to serve patients from diverse backgrounds, eliminate barriers to communication, and build meaningful relationships rooted in trust and compassion.
