I created this literature review for my determinants of health behavior course. In this paper I analyzed how factors from the sociological model affect perinatal mental health in young adults. This assignment allowed me to strengthen my research and analyzation skills by finding and utilizing evidence from scientific literature to support my claims. Through this assignment I learned how the intersection of individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and policy level factors affect health outcomes.These skills will help me as a physician to better understand the broader context of my patients’ lives, incorporate social determinants into their care, and advocate for changes that address both individual needs and systemic barriers.
In my epidemiology course, I created a powerpoint about opioid usage with two of my peers. In this assignment we included epidemiological rates (incidence, prevalence, mortality, morbidity) along with several charts that show the relationship of opioid usage to certain areas and how it has increased over time. I was able to improve my understanding and interpreting skills of epidemiology statistics. These skills will help me as a physician by strengthening my ability to interpret data, identify meaningful trends in my patients’ communities, and apply evidence-based approaches to care. They will also allow me to deliver more compassionate and personalized treatment that truly supports my patients’ needs.

For this assignment, I created a career presentation exploring my goal of becoming a pediatric anesthesiologist. The project required me to research the history, educational pathway, and professional responsibilities within the field, as well as to analyze how my personal interests, skills, and experiences align with this career. Through this process, I learned how to connect my academic preparation with long-term professional goals and gained a clearer understanding of the steps required to reach medical school and subspecialty training.Overall, this project deepened my self-awareness and strengthened my commitment to pursuing a career in healthcare.
